Brora

Brora Stripey JumperEvery time we have friends and family visiting us from the States I take them to Brora– the ’shop-supreme’ for famous Scottish Cashmere. It is just one of those shops everyone loves. A v-neck jumper for my husband, a button-up cardigan for my aunt, their cozy cashmere blankets for my mom, gloves and scarf for my sister, hats for my brothers, baby blankets for new babies, etc. etc.

Brora’s aim is to give classic Scottish cashmere a contemporary twist. You can literally get any style of jumper in just about any color.

My favorite section in Brora? The baby and kid’s lines. (You’re never too young for a bit of cashmere)… (more…)

Petit Aimé

Petite Aime Imagine… all your favourite French brands beautifully displayed in one place… without having to go to France! C’est magnifique!

Fans of the lovely women’s clothing boutique, Aimé, on Ledbury Road in Notting Hill will be psyched to know that the owners (two French sisters…and mothers) have opened up a children’s boutique right next door, called Petit Aimé.

Prepare yourself to love everything. From the intricate and colourful displays to all the gorgeous brands (BonTon, Makié, Oona L’ourse, Tuff, Noro,  Isabel Marant, etc.). They also sell a fun collection of toys from Vilac, Tse Tse, Petite Pan, and others.

It’s beautiful, it’s French, it’s chic! It might possibly be my new-found treasure trove…

Carluccio’s

Carluccio’sWith more than 10 different locations across central London, Carluccio’s is a good ‘go-to’ restaurant for decent food, friendly service and great accommodations for kids!

Carluccio’s Italian restaurants are kid-friendly without being obnoxious, and comfortable without losing their charm.  It’s a great family dinner spot where you can share a bottle of wine with your husband, while your kids stay entertained!

The kid’s menu, which  includes breadsticks, entreé, a drink, and ice cream for dessert, comes as an activity set with cute wooden coloring pencils, a color-your-own puzzle kit, and fun games. It’s super cute, and my kids LOVE it! (more…)

Melt ChocolatesMy husband and I are huge, huge chocolate fans. Every single night after dinner, we bring out our trusty tin of chocolates. We’ve traveled Europe in search of the best chocolate, visiting chocolate shops big and small in Paris, Brussels, Antwerp, Amsterdam, etc. Luckily for us, we have never managed to find anything better than the chocolate from a little shop here in London…

Melt, a chocolate shop on Ledbury Road, is the crème de la crème of chocolate shops, and certainly worth a visit if you’re in town. Melt’s chocolates are hand-made in a small room at the back of the shop by award-winning chocolatiers and chefs. Their bonbons and truffles are divine! You can literally taste every unique ingredient in each of their concoctions. In fact, I’ve never had a chocolate from Melt that wasn’t amazing.
